Born Stephen Charles Austin, on the 20th September 1967 he was the 3rd child of Aida Austin.
Coming from a spanish mother and bajan farther he grew up in a very vibrant background surrounded by music and culture. He grew up all his life in Stephendale RD, Fulham, and SW6 West London. By the early 1980's Stephen had a love for Reggae music and set up he's own sound system with Andrew Richards (RIP) Anton and Allen called Isha Sound system. Where with a few other young budding MC's made up a crew called the 5 Man Army. This included Stevie Hyper D, Known then as Daddy Stevie, Major 1, Tiger max, Wongy Culture and Daddy Angie.
By the mid 1980's Stevie would hold dances at his mum's house in Stephendale Rd and play at various party's around SW London. By the late 1980's Steve started to get into Acid and Hip Hop music and started to rap and found his inspiration from people like Doug Lazy and ultra magnetic MC's. He then started to write his own rap lyrics, and started going to Raves like The Crypt in Brixton and Orange at the Rocket. By the early 1990's Steve was keen t get into the Rave scene himself, and joint up with a crew called Nu-Tek that were producing rave music and were playing out at all the big house parties in SW London. But Steve still wanted to get into the big Raves, but was getting no joy. At the same time he met up with a crew called Apollo 440 and made his first pressed recorded called Techno Ragga witch made it into the top 40's in Radio 1's Dance chart. By now he had made a name for himself, now known as Stevie Hyper D....
By 1992 Steve done his first big Rave called Headstrong and was now making a name for himself in the underground scene and also got himself a residency MC at the Loft Club in Shepherds Bush Green.
He then was becoming well known and was doing's Raves like Rave World in Plumstead, Stearns in Brighton and also being the Hype man for Satin Storm. (Remember at this time in the early 1990's the Jungle scene had not started as yet)
By 1993 Steve started to do Raves like Elevation, Utopia and Telepathy. At this time the Rave scene started to split, but Steve was still classed as a Hardcore Rave MC.
Between 1994-1996 Steve established himself as a Jungle MC by doing raves like Jungle Mania, Club Telepathy and eventually doing Roast. At this time he had teamed up with Nicky Blackmarket, and the rest as they say is History.... But is it????
Steve achieved many more things like touring the world and being the first Drum & Base Mc signed to a major label (Island Records) and opened the door for the MC's we see today in the Garage and Grime scene and never forgetting Drum & Base. This is why 10 years later decided to create Generation Hyper, to open discussion and to document history, for one of the greatest MC's the U.K Produced.....R.I.P Stevie Hyper D
A bit of history on one of the greatest jungle mc's ever touching the mic.
